Real techniques Bold Metals collection!

I finally got my Ulta order in the mail this evening. Super excited to see these gorgeous brushes. This was the only pleasant thing all day today. The weather in the Midwest just gets worse each year. 😦

Anyway, I picked up four of the brushes from this collection and just wanted to know if you guys would like to see a first impressions and/or a review on these brushes? Any thoughts?

Colorpop products – Lippie Stix and Super shock eyeshadows..

So, here’s a product I’ve been hearing a lot about all over YouTube in the last few months of 2014. So, I joined the bandwagon and purchased some myself. 🙂 The package did take about a week to arrive but they did have a personalized thank you note (similar to Beautylish.com) which I always love. It just makes me feel that the company really takes time and interest in thanking their customer personally.

As I was deciding on what shades to pick, I realized that I couldn’t find any videos/posts targeted towards woman of my coloring (barring TotalMakeupJunkie101 aka Eshani). Most vidoes/blog posts were by bloggers of lighter skin tone. So, that made the choices harder. But I ended up picking 4 of their matte lippie stix and 3 of their super shock eyeshadows. Each of their products retail for $5 which is exceptional for the quality.

Let’s begin with my favorite, the Lippie Stix! They come in 5 different formulas – Glossy, Satin, Matte, Hyper glossy and Pearlized. Of course I had to pick the mattes! I chose four colors that I thought would suit my skin tone (NC40-NC42) – I heart this, LBB, Leather and Bichette. They all contain Vitamin E, Mango, Avacado & Shea butter (hence these products are not drying on the lips). These lip products are free of Parabens and Sulfates. Also, Colorpop does not test on animals! 🙂

The packaging is great for the pricing. The product is packaged in a white plastic tube with a white cap and a colored bottom that matches the color of the product inside. They also have the names of the shades on the bottom of the tube. Once you open the cap, you can again see the color of the product on the tubing.

The container is a twist-up (so no need to sharpen, Yay to that!). These remind me of the NARS Matte lip pencils but without the need for sharpening, with more pigment and greater lasting power! On me, these last almost all day with minimal fading even with meals in between. If you do end up eating something oily, these might come off a bit and you may need to reapply once. These are comfortable on the lips and also leave behind a stain on my lips, which I don’t mind at all. Probably the lighter shades don’t leave behind as much stain. Overall, as you can probably tell, I love these!

Moving on to the shadows. The super shock shadows have a unique texture – almost a very smooth, gel-paste like consistency that glide on your eyelids. These come in a variety of finishes. I picked up 2 metallic finishes (Bae and So Quiche) and 1 pearlized finish shadow (Mooning). Frankly, I don’t see a difference in these two finishes – both have similar texture with fine glitter through them. All three are super pigmented and can create a variety of looks depending on the mode of application.

Without an eye primer, these shadows do not last on my oily eyelids and tend to crease within a few hours. However, I don’t have that issue when I do use an eye primer. Using your fingers gets the max intensity with these shadows. When using a brush, it creates a softer look. I would really recommend using a synthetic brush with these shadows. Since Dec 26th 2014, Colorpop has also expanded their super shock shadow range with Mattes! I am so tempted to get them. Arghhh… companies….

TIP from Colorpop: Keep the lids on tight with these products. Else, these might not be as smooth. 🙂

19 Things We Ladies Really Need To Stop Doing To Each Other

Great post for all Women.. 😀

SERENDIPITY AND CREATIVITY

Seriously, we are on the same team.

  1. Slut shaming. Let women make their own decisions and stop feeling like it’s your given right to express your disapproval. Here’s a motto to live by: Not your vagina, not your business.
  2. Making comments about other women’s bodies. All comments go straight to the heart and they’re really unneeded.
  3. Seriously, just saying “oh my gosh you’re so skinny, you’re like anorexic” is just as demeaning as commenting on the weight that a girl has gained. Just don’t.
  4. Knowingly seeking out another woman’s man. Have respect for other relationships the same way you’d want someone to respect yours.
  5. Being jealous of each other’s accomplishments. Be happy for other women and the achievements that they work hard for.
  6. Giving backhanded compliments. “Your hair looks great! It would look even better a little shorter.” Wow, thanks?
  7. Blaming the “other woman” when the man cheats. First of…

Sephora VIB Rouge event..

Happy Sunday folks.. Hope you all are having a great weekend.. We celebrated hubby’s bday with close friends & managed to throw him a surprise party.. 🙂

Some weeks ago, Sephora had their VIB Rouge event that was only for VIB Rouge members.. Its a good time to meet fellow makeup obsessed individuals and also to meet some cosmetic company representatives.. So, I was at one such event at my local Sephora.. I met representatives from Benefit and MUFE and ended up buying random things.. Also, I made a quick stop at the MAC store since it’s in the same mall as Sephora.. Doesn’t hurt, right? 😉

Here’s what I ended up buying.. From Sephora, I purchased MUFE aqua matic eye shadow pencil, Too Faced better than sex mascara, Anastasia brow wiz in Ebony (back-up), Urban decay glide-on eye pencil in Whiskey (since I lost my dual ended eye liner in zero and whiskey that came along with the UD original Naked palette), Dry bar Detox dry shampoo and the Benefit 500-points Sephora reward.. I also received a Sephora makeup bag with mini goodies.. From MAC, I purchased two lipsticks (Retro and Spirit), Extended play gigablack lash mascara and lip liner in Half-red {since I lost my pouch carrying this staple 😦 }

I have reviewed some of these products recently (Benefit They’re real push-up eye liner, MUFE aqua matic eye shadow pencil, MAC lip liner in Half red and Too Faced better than sex mascara).. More reviews shall follow once I get a feel for the other products..

Beautylish and Neiman Marcus haul.. :-)

Hey guys,

Here’s another little but expensive makeup/skincare haul I made this month.. I had some gift cards to redeem and hence the splurge at Neiman Marcus.. 😉

IMG_9632 copy

From Beautylish.com, I purchased quite a few products:

1. Indie Lee Blemish stick.. My skin has been acting up recently and my usual acne treatments have not been good enough for my breakout.. So, while on their website, I landed on this product and when I read all the reviews, I had to give it a try.. It is on the pricier side at $28 for an acne treatment.. So, I’ll let you know if it worked for me..

2. RCMA 5 part series favorite palette in the shade ‘Shinto’ since this palette seemed to suit my skin tone the best based on online swatches.. I feel this is a great deal since I get 5 shades for $30 which can cater towards my foundation, concealer, highlighter and contour product..

3. Wayne Goss brushes!! I purchased #02, #03 and #19..

From neimanmarcus.com, I purchased the following products at 10% discount:

1. SK-II Facial essence treatment for a whooping $90!!! I really hope Pitera in this product is worth it!

2. Kevin Aucoin concealer brush for $28.80 after the discount.. This brush is quite similar to the one I currently use (a drugstore dupe).. I’ll keep you posted if this is worth the hype..

In-depth reviews for all these products will come soon… Take care..
